The Tennant Avenue BridgeThis case study initially discusses the events surrounding the changes to the California Department of Transportation’s (“Caltrans”) specifications for concrete. Next, the article will evaluate the performance of the high SCM replacement mixes recently placed in an actual bridge structure which used these new mixes. Finally, the impact of these high SCM replacement mixes on the overall carbon footprint in the bridge will be compared and contrasted to concrete designed using older specifications.
